Grand Isle, La. July Trout!
White Trout and Speckled Trout
We fished the beach in Grand Isle, La. more to the east of last weeks location, down the beach where they recently built the new rock jetty breakwaters that are parallel to the beach. The surf was loaded with lots of small speckled trout, white trout, and crabs. We caught over 50 fish, they hit on almost every cast, and we released dozens of fish, only got one keeper speck, we had many specks under the 12 inch minimum size though. Endless mixed schools of small trout inside the rocks, and dozens of dolphins after them. The dolphins did not faze the fishing, you could cast over them and pull trout in right in front of their noses!
