November Gulf of Mexico Surf Fishing!
Port Fourchon Public Beach Access Bridge Open Again!
Surf Fishing Saturday
The gulf water is cooling and the big surf fish are beginning to show! Water was 68 degrees saturday, far from the 90 degrees it hovered at all summer. Our friend Vincent Simmons was at the beach and we saw a few other regulars, one caught a small black drum. Lots of hardheads in the rolling surf kept us busy (over 2 dozen) but now and then the drags screamed and rods bent due south! I had a 4 1/2 ft Blacktip Shark played in all the way to the beach when he finally bit through the steel leader and cruised off, Vincent had a big violent strike that bent his surf rod seaward, and snapped it in half! We did get some really nice redfish though, check out the photos, and Come Catch Some!
