Port Fourchon, La. Surf Fishing!
Surf Fishing Saturday
We surf fished the beach at Port Fourchon, La. Sunday morning from 7am to 8am! It was rough and windy. Winds kept steadily increasing and the rising tides began to block off the packed beach access road along the beach forcing drivers into the soft sand or the water so we had to leave early. Water was about 73-74 degrees and is still a little cool with the high winds. Waves were breaking all the way in early on and kept increasing. The wind has been bad for the last few months, hope it begins to let up other than on the weekdays! Usually the Bermuda high controls this area the whole summer. It is the same system that directs the tropical storms into the Gulf of Mexico. I jumped with the waves for about an hour and got a Beautiful Spanish Mac, and a small Tope shark I released! We are now in the recreational shark season, until June 30th all sharks have to be released unharmed.
